A mum told me last week that her daughter can copy any TikTok dance off a screen... but she cannot say hello to a stranger without hiding behind her leg.
That is the gap I care about. My kids dance classes in Dubai are not really about the steps.
Doctors here have been warning all year about how much time children spend on screens. I see it in the studio. New students walk in with perfect phone arms and no idea where their shoulders live.
What kids dance classes Dubai really teach
Posture. Eye contact. Waiting your turn. Hearing music and deciding what your body wants to do about it.
A screen hands a child the moves. It never gives them the room.
I had a boy start with me at seven. First lesson, he danced facing the wall... would not look at me once. Three months later he was counting out loud for a partner who had lost the beat. Same child. Different spine.
Why I start most children one to one
Group energy is lovely, but a shy child needs somewhere soft to land first. So private lessons for kids are where I spend most of my time. We fix the basics with nobody watching.
Then, when they actually want an audience, there is a beginner group for ages 6 to 11 on Saturdays at 1:30 PM.
I teach in Al Quoz 3 and in Dubai Marina, so pick whichever studio is closer and we go from there.
The part parents never expect
Your child will start asking you to watch things.
That is my favourite bit. Not the medals, not the competition results... the kitchen performance on a Tuesday night where they make you sit down and pay attention.
I have been dancing since I was five and teaching since 2006, and that still gets me every time.
So if there is a phone habit and a shy streak in your house, bring them for one trial class. No experience, no special shoes, nothing to prepare.
Message me here or WhatsApp +971 52 191 3428. After one lesson I will tell you honestly whether dance is their thing.
